International <IR> Framework 2020 revision process

Publication of the revised <IR> Framework

Revisions to the International <IR> Framework were published on 19 January 2021, to enable more decision-useful reporting. The revisions, the first since the <IR> Framework was originally published in 2013, were the result of extensive market consultation with 1,470 individuals in 55 jurisdictions over two consultation periods.

The <IR> Framework 2013/2021 comparison

We have published the <IR> Framework 2013/2021 comparison document to enable readers to clearly identify the changes that have been made to the 2021 <IR> Framework. Changes have been outlined in a table format on a side-by-side basis for ease of comparison.

How we used your feedback

The IIRC has published three documents that set out the feedback received during the consultation, our analysis of the feedback and the subsequent treatment of the feedback.

    Consultation Draft feedback: Questions 1 – 10

Analysis of Consultation Draft feedback: Questions 1 – 10

Treatment of Consultation Draft feedback: Questions 1 – 10

Analysis of Consultation Draft Feedback: Questions 11 – 15

Consultation Draft

The IIRC called for feedback on the proposed revisions to the International <IR> Framework between 21 May – 19 August 2020, via a Consultation Draft.

We also published a Companion Document, that set out the consultation questions, as well as our basis for conclusions based on our topic engagement consultation earlier in 2020.

During the 90-day consultation period, over 1,000 individuals attended regional roundtables hosted by the IIRC’s partners globally to share their thoughts. Feedback was also received through an online survey.

Topic engagement

In February 2020, the IIRC published three focused-engagement topic papers, to gain initial feedback ahead of drafting the 2020 Consultation Draft. The feedback we received on these three papers is set out in the May 2020 Companion Document.

Topic Paper 1: Responsibility for an integrated report
Topic Paper 2: Business Model considerations
Topic Paper 3: Charting a path forward
