Dr. Laura Girella is Technical Director, Connectivity and Integrated Reporting at the IFRS Foundation, collaborating on the development of technical work as well as coordinating the Integrated Reporting Academic Network and Database.
She is also a Senior Research Fellow in Business Economics at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia (with an abilitation to serve as Associate and Full Professor).
She holds a PhD in Accounting and Business Economics with the University of Ferrara (Italy). She has been Visiting Researcher at the Manchester Business School, University of Alberta School of Business and at Schulich School of Business (Toronto). She has been teaching in several Italian Universities. She has published papers in primary academic journals and international books as well as two books with Routledge. She has presented numerous papers in national and international scientific conferences. She has been invited as a speaker to academic and professional events.
She joined the staff of the International Integrated Reporting Council (IIRC) in 2014. Since February 2018, she is a member of the Stakeholder Reporting Committee of the European Accounting Association (EAA SRC) and, from June 2020 to June 2021, she has been a member of the EFRAG Project Taskforce on Non-Financial Risks and Opportunities and Linkage to the Business Model. Over the years, she has also cooperated with the World Intellectual Capital Initiative (WICI) and the Italian Foundation for Business Reporting (OIBR).
